Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned Muslim countries that the threat posed by the Israeli regime’s barbarity and expansionism now looms over the entire West Asia region and the Muslim world.

“Countries in the region have now come to the conclusion that the threat posed by the Zionist regime is not confined to a single spot, but targets the entire region and the Muslim world,” the top diplomat said in Tehran on Tuesday.
The Tel Aviv regime seeks to sow division, weakness, and fragmentation among Muslims and has again openly raised the idea of a “Greater Israel,” added Araghchi, who was addressing a meeting held on the sidelines of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference in the Iranian capital.
The official was referring to a so-called vision harbored by the regime that envisages its occupation of parts of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in addition to the occupied Palestinian territories.
He noted that the 1,500th birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had provided a valuable opportunity to discuss threats facing the Muslim world, with the Week of Unity serving as an appropriate platform for such dialogue.
Pioneered by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khomeini, the occasion encompasses a seven-day period beginning each year with the Prophet of Islam’s birth anniversary.
It promotes the theme of strong solidarity within the international Muslim community in the face of external interference as well as imperialist and hegemonic inroads.
‘Unprecedented menace’.
According to Araghchi, the identity and cohesion of the global Muslim community have come under unprecedented threat, supported by the regime and Western states.
In such a context, Islamic unity has shifted from an ideal to a religious and strategic imperative, he said, adding that unity among Muslim countries is not merely desirable, but also obligatory.
The underway situation, the official added, has made the countries of the region realize that the warning continuously voiced by the Islamic Republic since its inception in 1979 concerning the wiles of the global Zionist campaign was veritable all along.
“The main adversary is Zionism,” he said, reiterating the caution.
Araghchi, however, hailed that – despite the situation – regional cooperation with the Islamic Republic is growing, and Iran has come to be recognized as a true friend and supporter of Muslims and the peoples of the region.
The official urged the world’s 1.5-billion-strong Muslims to tap into their collective potential to strengthen and advance the Muslim world.
Citing an instance of effective Muslim unity, he referred to Shia and Sunni Muslims as well as Arabs and Persians banding together throughout the Islamic Republic to face up to the Israeli regime’s unprovoked war on the country in June.
