Heywood,
Kirk was transactional in his thinking about the relationship between gun rights and people getting shot.
That's an odd twist on his words. Of course, I'm seeing leftists on social media bringing this up.

Kirk was espousing the old conservative belief that an armed citizenry prevents the government from turning into a tyranny. That is not "transactional." That is very ideological.

I would love to have debated him on his belief in the context of Trump calling the National Guard to lower crime. After all, crime is often cited as the reason to restrict guns, but conservatives often resist said restrictions based on their ideology.

So why was it OK for Trump to send in the National Guard to lower crime even though it takes us one big step closer to a military dictatorship?

Unfortunately I won't be able to debate Kirk now. But I'm curious to see how Trump will respond to this assassination. Obviously he won't advocate for more gun control, but will he make up for that by restricting our rights in other ways?
