A huge problem that started over 30-years ago is with 24-hours to fill, cable news became commentary. Now nearly all of what people think is news is just opinionated banter designed to engage anger and emotional responses in order to drive ratings and cash. There is very little of what can be called actual news. Few people who have been viewing this stuff over the past few decades realize the slippery slope things have gone down. If people really want news, they should read a data feed like Bloomberg, and only while it is muted.
