I remember when they were dissing Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway in 2000. The bubble burst when the competitive local-exchange carriers (CLECs) had burned through 1 trillion dollars they had raised in debt offerings from 1996 to 1999. None of those carriers are alive today. A Barron's issue in March listed all the recent IPOs that were about to run out of cash.
