The Mauser used is a current production model or at least one produced within the last 20 years. The barrel does not remove without extreme effort usually requiring gunsmithing skill and tools. Nearly all commerical production bolt guns have the barrels set into the receiver by machine pressure or threading. No human is going to take these rifles apart.

The only Mauser take down version that has been available is terrifically expensive and rare. This is not what was used in the shooting.
