I think the #1 reason for the upcoming rates cuts is not as much to stimulate the economy (and the markets) as giving our government a chance to refinance debt at lower (short term) rates. Unlike the long term rates, they can be controlled. If it “works”, it will worsen the delusion that infinite borrowing is OK.
