The Verge, or the original Arendt essay? Facts, like the German border crossing data are a lot more solid than any opinion, but can be forgotten or shoved down a memory hole by a sufficiently motivated regime. AFAIK, the sum of the angles in a triangle always was and always will be 180 degrees, as long as we assume the validity of Euclid's fifth postulate. There are other possible geometries, but all are built logically, without resort to opinions. No doubt, in some corner of the internet, there are sites with opinions about triangles with other characteristics, and they may have adherents, but their "proofs" won't be convincing to someone who can think logically.
