China failed to persuade Poland to reopen the border with Belarus

Three-hour talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski ended without results. Warsaw refused to reopen the border with Belarus despite Beijing’s requests and problems with Chinese goods transit.

Poland’s foreign ministry said the closure was due to the “destructive actions of Moscow and Minsk.” “This decision is costly for us as well, but it was necessary,” ministry spokesman Pawel Urbanski explained.
