It's hard to believe the US is going to allow China controlled Tik Tok to be a dominant media source among America's young. This is the type of thing that should definitely be regulated. The algorithm which determines what all users view next should be public, and the user should be able to easily have greater control over their feed.

There are constant articles on the harm social media does to youth, and of increased rates of depression among heavy social media users. So yeah, lets let China decide what our kids watch? It makes no sense.....

It's also hard to believe that US tech giants cannot EASILY replicate Tik Tok's service. It's just streaming videos, it already exists in other formats (Facebook Reels?).

This is an area where politicians have absolutely abdicated their job of improving lives.
