We had to read To Kill A Mockingbird in high school. I didn't appreciate it then because I didn't like reading books as homework. I don't know how I got through high school English. :) A few years afterwards I read it on my own and was captivated by it. By then I had developed a natural appreciation for books other than sci-fi which I liked back then but never became an avid reader like so many on this board. However, discussions of books or authors here inspired me to read some of them from time to time. It's a shame the board's now a ghost town.
