Very true. In the long run, gold is made from oil. But in the short run of a decade or two, gold production is irrelevant. Life happens in days and months within a few years for most people, so a decade or two might as well be forever. The next decade includes teotwawki and a dark interregnum with a blank canvas thereafter. In mathematics people write things as going geometric, parabolic or exponential, even to asymptotically hyperbolic hyperbole, but there's a mathematical function less used which is cusp. A cusp is much more fun than those more boring mathematical functions. A turn of events leading in a totally different direction, not necessarily to anybody's advantage. Or, it could be wonderful as AGI It aka AI takes over and accelerates everything to warp speed Paradise for all with Utopia and Nirvana making stashes of gold, petabytes of bitcoin, and $quadrillions of pixilated pixelation of hyperinflation irrelevant. With Neuralink connection to mobile Cyberspace, "Your wish is my command" will be fantastic. It's already pretty amazing compared with this time 100 years ago. Mqurice
