OT Actually, the Cascadia subduction zone usually generates a big one every 300 years or so, and since the last large quake was in 1700 we are way overdue.

Scientists have also been finding indications that when Cascadia lets go, it becomes probable that the San Andreas fault will do the same within a few years.

I hope I am dead before it finally happens. The estimates are that it will take at least six months before ANY utilities are restored in Vancouver, where I live.
