I certainly hope you're right.
Experts on how the Philippines democracy was taken down 20 years ago have shown how Trump is following that playbook. Hopefully our democracy is strong enough not to let it happen, but it will take at least a few Republican Congressmen to put the Constitution above Trump to make it happen.
The Courts are also in a position not to allow it, but if the Supreme's don't go along with the lower courts when Trump kicks it up to them, we've got very serious trouble. I don't think Robert's wants to go down as the Chief Justice who threw out the Constitution in favor of the President, but he's only one vote, we need at least one more Republican installed Justice who puts loyalty to Country over Party.
While much could change with the election next year if Trump is unable to sway the outcome of that election, but the guy that goes to Britain and complains about his loss in 2020 could be the guy who screws with the election in 2026 enough to hold on to Congress, and I don't know that the democracy will survive what he could do with 2 more years after that.
I really don't want to Impeach and Convict Trump if you can't do Vance at the same time. Putting Vance in the Oval Office could be worse than Trump, we need control of at least one house to keep them under control and put a stop to Executive Orders that usurp the power of Congress. It will take decades to undo the badwill, not sure if it's a word, but if goodwill is it ought to be. that he's done. Allies like India are moving toward China as we keep threatening Russia, but doing nothing. Latest excuse, some European countries by Russian oil. Trump should guarantee that we'll meet there needs at or below the prices they currently pay, but he'd rather complain that they don't buy enough from us, but not do anything to disturb his love affair with Putin.
As for Kimmel, I do believe he'll be back, but it may not be until after the deals are made that the FCC could nix if he's put back on the air. I was happy to see at least Ted Cruz putting down Trump's FCC head, we need more Senators on the Republican side to bring this to a halt. Trump has turned the head of every Department into his personal weapon, their actions need to be stopped.
By the way, I don't like the way ICE operates, and have never liked Holman, but his appearance on Bill Maher last evening at least made him sound human. I don't like the way his people conduct themselves, but there was some validity in some of his arguments. If we had legislation that covered how aliens should properly come to the US and eventually achieve citizenship, it would be a big start, but Congress ultimately fails to act, the last time on directions from Trump before his election, after they agreed to the bill that had been drafted. It wasn't nearly complete, but it was a step, but after years of discussing it, they still couldn't take that step.
