I don't disagree with all you're saying. Unfortunately, he has just enough Republicans who believe he has the power to keep them employed, they're called Congressmen. They need to recognize that their Emperor has no clothes.
I believe that we should have a Democratic landslide next year, but that's if the election is fair. Trump will cheat in any way he possibly can, and I don't know that it's completely possible to stop it. If he finds a way to declare marshal law prior to the election it's hard to say that all ballots will find the ballot box.
The man is ordering that all his political enemies be brought to trial, people like Adam Schiff who's on the enemy's list for the impeachments, etc. As close as he is to his Attorney General, if she fails to charge him with something, she'll probably be looking for another job. Of course no convictions would occur, it would only make them look more foolish, but we know they're fools. The MAGA people seem to eat this stuff up.
I would hope that our military leaders wouldn't take illegal orders, even if they came directly from Trump, but we had active duty people here in L.A. for the most part they stood around Federal bldgs. that weren't threatened at all, but I still believe it was illegal, yet they took his order. The courts can take years, and as long as the Supreme's won't shut him down, generally sending things to lower courts to review in greater depth before making an actual decision, they generally leave his orders in place until they've made it through all the courts.
I don't mind ICE dealing with people who've been guilty of more than entering the US illegally, a misdemeanor, but most of the people being arrested aren't hard criminals, most have no records at all, they're respected in the community. They're mostly hard working people often doing jobs that others don't want to do. As far as I'm concerned, alien criminals in our court system should be turned over to ICE, but only if they're actually guilty of the crimes, or it's proven that they were criminals where they came from. The fact that an alien is in a courthouse doesn't say anything, if they come to court to be tried, and their guilty of something significant, then let ICE deal with them. I consider a DUI significant, but not driving a few miles over the speed limit. I think the judge should make the determination, not some sanctuary city rule that says no cooperation, or a rule that says every alien, innocent or guilty of anything shall be turned over. But don't let ICE bully there way in, or waylay people at the court, cooperate with them when someone rightfully should be deported, and no other time.
Trump lied when he said how many true alien criminals are in the US, but he's virtually arresting and deporting practically everyone ICE can find. I don't believe that's what most of his biggest fans want, especially if they've tried to wash their car, etc and found that most carwashes are closed. I'd rather have people come here legally, but we really need most who're already here, who're working in their communities, and who could find citizens willing to sponsor them through a program that allows them to be here and ultimately become citizens, that's what we need from the legislature, not ICE acting like their Gestapo.
