Hurricane #Gabrielle remains a powerful Category 4, winds 140 mph. Once again we see an instance of a storm - when over record hot water - has rapidly intensified (RI), from 75 to 140 in 18 hours. That’s double the criteria! 1/

Super Typhoon #Ragasa reached peak winds of 175-180 mph. Zooming into its eye you can see the mesovortices (micro circulations) inside it’s relatively calm eye. #hurricane #fyp #stem #climate

Don't call it a come back... The globe has awakened from it's hurricane slumber with 3 major hurricanes / super typhoons in 3 days! All three have been cat 4 and 5's with #Ragasa topping the list at 175 mph. #Gabrielle is peaking now so 140 may soon be upgraded.
