Hi Shege:
The old "independent benchmark"? Care to share? Instead, why don"t we pay some of the larger Vantive customers a visit (say, a Novell) and ask them if they would like to replace their big-ass HP hardware with a 50K Compact box to run their VNTV system on? You can bet their reply would be "hey, I didn"t know it was the first day of the 2nd quarter already".
I know of one recent SCOP customer that we snagged that installed the SCOP product, and ran into a performance elbow at 19 USERS! They worked closely with SCOP, and managed to tune it so the elbow only appeared at 51 users. Then, SCOP gave up. Of course, they were booted.
Of boy, don"t get me started on SEBL. They recommend one NT server for each 100 users. Guess any system will perform if you throw enough hardware at it.
re: stirring the port. Sending abrasive messages with the express intent of stimulating response (a favorite of our friend Clam Clam). Surely this is by design; the alternate would be that you really are abrasive. I don"t mean to offend you. My favorite Peanuts cartoon (jeez, must be 25 years old) went like this:
Lucy and Linus sitting at the fence. Lucy yells loudly to the side, "CHARLIE BROWN, YOU"RE A BLOCKHEAD!". Linus says "Be careful. You might offend him". "OFFEND HIM??!!" Lucy snorts. "Yes", says Linus, "he might really BE a blockhead".
