Story by Iman Palm

Over 11.5 million households in California will receive an automatic refund on their October electricity bills, thanks to the California Climate Credit program.

The refunds range from $35 to $259 on electric bills, with most households set to receive between $56 and $81 in October. Customers received a similar refund during the spring.

So Cal Edison customers will receive a smaller utility bill

The credits are available to residential customers of PG&E, San Diego Gas & Electric, Southern California Gas Company, and Southwest Gas.

The climate credit provides ratepayers with their share of the benefits from the state program, which focuses on reducing the state’s overall greenhouse gas emissions.

Since 2014, the program has delivered $14.6 billion in bill refunds back to residential utility customers, according to the governor’s office.
