This is a good presentation by Heather Cox Richardson on why the stalemate over funding the budget is a BFD.

One of the main sticking points is that the Republicans, as they have been doing forever, are trying to not only get rid of the "Affordable Care Act (ACA) ", but the entire modern government, and want to take us back to the 1920's before "The New Deal".

So we are talking about them wanting to get rid of the modern government constructed by modern science and includes social security and medicare, etc.

And if they win this battle over 4 million will lose their ACA and health care premiums will sky rocket!
