This week, the Public Safety Minister was caught on tape telling the truth about the Great Liberal Gun Grab.
He said he could not explain the logic behind it.
He said it was about winning votes in Quebec.
He confessed the gun grab would not provide full compensation.
Now the Liberals are in full damage control.
They are so desperate they have decided the best option is to brazenly lie.
Two weeks ago, Carney claimed the gun confiscation was voluntary.
Then the Minister claimed the program was voluntary.
But when a reporter finally challenged him all he could offer was alphabet soup.
This is a classic example of gaslighting.
Gas lighting is when somebody lies in way that makes you question your own sanity.
It is troubling when a government tries to do this, but it gets scary when some media play along.
When Trudeau first announced the Great Liberal Gun Grab, it actually was going to be voluntary.
You could turn in your newly prohibited firearms for compensation OR they would be grandfathered, meaning you could keep it until your death, at which point it would be destroyed.
This made the anti-gun lobby very angry.
In May of 2021, the anti-gun lobby wrote a letter to Trudeau warning that if he did not make the Gun Grab mandatory, they would not allow him to attend their public events.
We know this because anytime the anti-gun lobby writes a letter, the Canadian Press news wire service, will issue a press release on the group’s behalf.
It turns out that threatening to take away Trudeau’s photo ops was very effective blackmail.
Trudeau caved into the blackmail and in the 2021 Liberal election platform they promised to make the gun grab mandatory.
On Monday, when even liberal-friendly media such as the Toronto Star and the CBC were reporting on the Public Safety Minister’s taped confession, the Canadian Press were reporting on another letter from the anti-gun lobby.
The anti-gun lobby was demanding that the government ban one of the most popular hunting rifles in Canada, the SKS.
Yet the Liberal MP, who is also an anti-gun lobbyist, stood up in the House of Commons and claimed repeatedly the government was not taking away hunting rifles.
She is a founding member of the same group trying to get a popular hunting rifle banned.
Every Canadian, whether you own a firearm or not, should be very concerned that the government is blatantly lying to push a policy.
The program is targeting hunting rifles.
The program is mandatory.
Either you turn in your firearm, destroy your firearm, or you “volunteer” to go to jail.
