A small minority would say "Hi!" back. The rest will be disgusted that this fool wasted all that jet fuel and time to feed his whim. The pep talk sounds even worse.

There's Zoom for casual meetings, and a secure communication system for anything more substantial. The worst inconvenience would be in a time zone that required getting up in the middle of the night.
