I've said this forever, but the difference in the psyche of Mets and Yankees fans is night and day. Every Mets fan is the sporting version of bi-polar. When the team is winning, the fans are euphoric. When the team starts losing, the fans are ready to jump off the Whitestone Bridge. I mean, Mets fans were probably so sure the Mets were going to collapse this season they were reserving their spots on the bridge well in advance.

Contrast that to Yankees fans, every one of whom demands/expects the Yankees beat the Red Sox. If that doesn't happen, anger will be the major emotion not sadness.

As for assessing which Mets collapse was worse, step one would be to see how many who witnessed both collapses are still alive. :)
