What persuades me that copper demand is increasing is the spread of electrification through the less developed parts of the world. Everybody wants to enjoy the benefits of electricity - like owning a refrigerator, and AC in hot places - and as standards of living rise in poorer countries electrical grids are being expanded. This is the biggest factor in copper demand, I think.
