I don't think there are any easy answers to any of this. The issue of debts/fiscal reckonings is a worldwide issue. Most of the key European countries are essentially as broke as the US is and proportionally just as unable to dig out of their respective holes. Nobody can know how all of this ends and thus, the kicking of the can down the road in perpetuity. Fear mongering rules and the crowds (myself included) flee to the only reserve currency in existence for centuries - PMs. However, I don't understand how that will work. I often picture myself in the grocery store with a bar of gold and a cheese grater, shaving off little bits onto a scale last used in the late 1800's - to pay for my groceries. Is this what it is coming to? Tongue in cheek of course, but you gotta wonder...
