According to Apple’s latest newsroom update, Live Translation is rolling out with iOS 26, but:

It’s limited to Messages, FaceTime, and Phone
Requires AirPods Pro 3 for in-person translation
Still lacks Circle-style visual search and true generative image editing

Expected to launch with iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max (Sep ’26)

Strategic Implication

Apple’s AI rollout is deliberate(???) but slower, and the gap is measurable in years, not quarters.
.... this validates Qualcomm’s first-mover advantage in enabling real-time, multimodal AI on-device.
Apple’s catch-up will likely coincide with iPhone 18 Pro, iOS 26, and AirPods Pro 3—but Samsung will already be on Galaxy S26 with Gemini Ultra.
