In this SOX chart I am overlaying the regular supertrend on top of mine.

The two are rarely in disagreement. I've placed vertical markers on the minor disagreements that they had.

The real difference is that mine tracks the price more closely than the regular one. this allows me to do better risk/reward analysis and sizing. The regular supertrend, by being so far away, essentially tells your that the stock could fall a much larger amount and still be a buy or rise a fair bit and still be short.

Mine is not so forgiving. It manages to tighten the range while still producing the same buy/sell calls on the stock. This is important for assessing the risk/reward on entry and exists.

You can also use the distance to supertrend to decide how overstretched a stock is (on very short duration). Again, mine has an advantage here.
