re: DVK wrote a series of 7 articles on CEFs a few years ago.

I never read those either, so no clue what DVK's conclusions were Way Back Then

What I do know is DVK has invested in two CEFs recently.....
UTG about a year ago, after he spoke on the phone for over an hour with the Fund Managers at Reaves.
From what he shared on Thunder's Blog, he was very impressed with the Fund Managers.

A few months ago DVK was inspired to Wet His Beak in STK after reading an article from someone he respects.

Full Disclosure:
I've owned both for a few years, and consider them among the very best CEFs in their respective Sectors.
Unlike some here, I DON'T move in & out of CEFs, but just stick with the ones I own and add opportunistically.

Edit: For a little bit of color, STK is #3 & UTG #5 in terms of Dollars I've invested in each, among my CEFs.
I.E. Yes, my opinion they are among the best in their respective Sectors is backed up with my Investment $$$.

Hold 28% of my UTG in my Taxable account & 72% in my Roth
Hold 25% of my STK in my Roth & 75% in my Taxable account

Both are suitable for Taxable accounts because their Distributions are historically about 95%+ Qualified/LT Cap Gains.
