I almost had to cry crocodile tears. The news did a story this afternoon about the "huge increase in health care premiums" people will have to pay if the Democrats don't win the shutdown.

They said the average monthly premium for the working poor would go up from $74 to $174 or something like that. Hell, those of us over 65 who PAID into Medicare for 50 years or more (I'm still paying while getting it) have a MINIMUM monthly payment of $185. Then we have to pay for drug and donut hole protection which for me in my Advantage plan is another $49 a month! Next year I'll probably have to pay triple that due to money taken from my IRA to remodel inside and upgrade the patios with pavers outside boosting my income.

SO MANY here work under the table and don't declare the income that they were often getting most of the costs covered. I think the BBB plan said they had to work and contribute a minimum of $100 a month. Most of the poor here on Medical don't have to pay for much of anything but the laws force the hospitals to treat them.

I sure wish the news and reports of actual cases were accurate, especially since the damn politicians here want to raise our local sales taxes by 0.5% to make up for some of this but they wrote the bill so the money goes into the general fund. My guess is if enough are deported, the need for the hospital services will plummet and that is what the DNC is worried about, losing public employees who vote blue to other cities.
