That's so sad. Have heard stories from Canadian friends, and depending on their means and the procedures needed travel to America, Mexico, or Asia for treatment. The richest have even travelled to exotic clinics in Switzerland for world class doctors and what would amount to experimental treatments most elsewhere.

Guy I know that took his wife to Helvetia for treatment met a member of the Dubai Royal family waiting in same room for his wife's tests. They hit it off and Dubai said a day later before leaving, if you ever come over here, contact me and I'll take good care of you as my guest. It probably helped that both wives had ailments not as serious as originally feared and they were mailed some medicine but the rest could be easily purchased in the home country. And just a few local follow-up tests and good to go.
