Don't be so hard on these guys-lol These were the first one's out of the gate. And no one helped civilization more! Ethics and democracy, justice and morality was what the Republic was about. Hell, we had slavery until 1865, and segregation until 1964. This was 2500 years ago-lol! They had the basic ingredient for civilization down, which was subordinating myth to reason!!
