Nvidia is the best-performing stock in the S&P 500 over the last 10, 15, and 20 years

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has been the best-performing stock in the benchmark S&P 500 index ( SP500) over the last 10, 15, and 20 years, according to an analysis by Creative Planning on Sunday. It is also the third best-performing stock in the last five years.

Nvidia's ( NVDA) rise over the last three years since the artificial intelligence boom of November 2022 has been nothing short of staggering. The company is today the number one maker of the high-processing chips that power many AI processes. Its stock has also swelled into the world's largest in terms of market capitalization and, in the process, has become a market-moving entity.

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has issued ten quarterly reports since the AI boom of November 2022. In that time, the stock's valuation has gone from $418.22B to a whopping $4.56T.

According to Charlie Bilello, chief market strategist at Creative Planning, in terms of total return, Nvidia ( NVDA) stock has surged 1,341% over the last 5 years, 31,025% over the last 10 years, 72,005% over the last 15 years, and 69,610% over the last 20 years.

Nvidia's ( NVDA) fellow Magnificent 7 members Tesla ( TSLA) and Apple ( AAPL) also feature in the top five of these lists. The electric vehicle maker is the second best-performing S&P 500 stock over the last 15 years, with a return of 31,198%. Meanwhile, the iPhone giant is the fourth best-performing S&P stock over the last 20 years, with a return of 15,688%.
