I agree, there may very well be reasons for not divulging details regarding a pending contract, that goes unsaid. But, if there has been a change in contractual aggreements, then it needs to be made public, that is one of the requirements of a public company.

It's real easy. All it takes is a statement that reads like this:

We are presently renegotiating the contract that expired on Sept 16, 1996. We are diligently at work trying to secure a better contract for our shareholders.

Or something to that effect.
