It seems T-Mobile may soon begin phashing out LTE in favor of 5G, with most of the LTE network offline by 2028.

How can this be? 5G incorporates LTE. This sounds like a base station only change (ie spectrum refarming).

How far back do you need to go to have a non 5G LTE only handset? Does such exist?
