Gold and Silver are powering higher today. Sounds like a broken record, which is a reference only geezers understand these days. Since this is SI, it works here. <G>

Had fun talking gladiator stories with a doc this AM. He caught crap from his intramural teammates when he was playing for his university championship in hoops, and a player from the other team who eventually became an all-pro NFL player, jumped completely over him (he was 5'8") and broke this guy's hand while it happened.

They lost the game, although the other team was completely stocked with future NFL players.

One of his partners who just retired was a guy who played hoops at my high school 3-years ahead of me. I told him of this guy's hops, which were legendary and equal to mine. I also told him I was there when he tore his knee to pieces going to the bucket. I told him I remembered exactly where I was when that happened. It's like people who remember where they were when Reagan was shot (I was on spring break and had just won a hamburg eating contest, eating 16, the day Reagan was shot).

I discovered this guy from my school had a scholarship to Harvard to be their QB, and he turned it down. I explained to the Doc that Harvard doesn't have D1 type football scholarships, so the offer his partner turned down was no different than what any student could get by going to Harvard.
That's the 2nd time I've heard of a person turning down an Ivy league football scholarship, with the first time being one of my nephews.
