I have a Cat Converter in the garage from AJ's car 3-years ago. I'm going to scrap it maybe in January and collect my $700 from the recovered Palladium, Platinum, and other trace precious metals.

Btw, that's something people don't think about when they get their exhaust replaced. If your catalytic converters are also replaced, the shop can recycle the old ones for anywhere from $200 to $1,000 and not tell you a thing about that. They just pocket that cash.

Also, all US original equipment comes with CARB compliant catalytic converters. If you're not in California, Colorado, Maine, or New York, you can buy less expensive, non-CARB compliant replacement converters if your originals go bad. They run about 50% cheaper if your state allows them. You can see them listed on sites like RockAuto.
