You know the federal government has Canadians drowning in debt.

But what if we told you a very simple way to save more than a billion dollars?

The CBC is costing taxpayers like you $1.4 billion this year and the federal government is planning to pour even more of your money into this media company.

Viewership for CBC News is usually floating at around two per cent of Canada’s population and
viewership for entertainment programming isn’t faring much better. CBC shows usually don’t even crack the top 15 TV shows watched in Canada.

But you are still paying big money for it.

The CEO of the CBC is paid about half a million dollars a year and the government funded media company is chock full of managers.

What you pay for the CBC could otherwise pay the salaries of about 7,000 police officers plus 7,000 paramedics in Canada.

Journalists should not be paid by the government: It’s a conflict of interest.

This is not right. The CBC is a huge waste of money, next to nobody is watching it and journalists should not be paid by the government.

Will you join your fellow taxfighters and sign the petition to DEFUND THE CBC?

We, the undersigned, call on the federal government to defund the CBC and end its media bailout.

I worked on Parliament Hill as a journalist for many years. A free press means a press that’s free from government funding and interference. It’s important that we restore a free press in Canada.
