The way I heard it, was a knock against the super efficient led bulbs. They emit only blue light, omitting the full spectrum, which contains the red, longer wave length. The red penetrates the skin and stimulates the mitochondria to burn sugar. The older incandescent bulbs are full spectrum. IIRC

So, it is not something we have evolved with.
