My view is pretty much yours.

There is no shortage of REE. The difficulty lies in refining them. Since China became jingoistic on the point, many US entrepreneurs seized on the opportunity. There are already some small modular units performing refining operations.

Refining REE as China does it creates many environmental hazards (not that China cares) which has led to regulatory impediments in the US. These will disappear as will China’s edge.

The REE advantage is clearly temporary. When it disappears, what then?

Very shortsighted.

But typically grandiose CCP thinking.
