Wayne Whaley sets wider criteria - 2-5% down days while within 10% from the top of the recent trading range - considering cases over the last 50 years. Outcomes are more mixed, but on balance - still positive…. becoming 29-10 positive after 63 trading days.

As it happens in such studies, many of those periods overlap - happen close to each other in time.
