It is unlikely that company did anything purposefully wrong. It definitely would have followed proper legal advice.

Let's for a moment assume that the next news from China is about it relieving Q from the hook. Does anyone think the stock will go back, in a single day, to where it was before the original news?

Problem is our stock reacts sharply to any kind of negative news but doesn't do much on positive news. This has been the trend for the last few years now. In such case, shouldn't extra cautiousness be followed?

Also, the mainstream media has not yet fully caught on CEO selling a huge amount of his holdings. Imagine how all this can be spun into. This stock has been a darling for short sellers and manipulators. How is the company protecting itself and its investors from such attacks? So far the message to its investors feels like "Trust me, bro!"
