?Papa John's soars after report of takeover offer PZZA +9.40%

Papa John's (NASDAQ: PZZA) jumped 18% after a report that Apollo Global ( APO) made a $64 a share bid for the pizza chain, according to a StreetInsider report.

The latest update comes after a Semafor report in June that Apollo and a Qatari investment fund made a bid for the pizza chain operator. Sources told Semafor at the time that the deal could value the company at around $2 billion.

Papa John's told Seeking that it has a policy of not commenting on market rumors.

Earlier this year, reports first surfaced that Papa John's (NASDAQ: PZZA) could be a takeover target. That speculation indicated that Irth Capital Management, an investment fund backed by a member of Qatar’s royal family, was considering a private bid for the company.
