With current treatment tech, it looks like when I finally get multiple myeloma, I'll probably live to be 85. That will probably be stretched with improved treatments.

It sucks when I run in and out of the doc's office and all these other people are obese and wheeling themselves in, and I'm the one who's got the ticking time bomb. It could be from all the toxic exposure I had in all the industrial sites I spent time at in China.

I worked with a guy who had it. He crashed his car on the way to work one morning and fractured a bunch of vertebrae. They took him to the hospital, and they found he had bone cancer. 6-weeks later, he was dead from it.

We saved his voicemail greeting for about 6-8 months after that in his office we kept empty. We couldn't bear deleting his voice. He was such a nice guy.

One of his sons was a chaplain in the Air Force. One time when he visited him, he got to ride in a KC-135Q tanker that refueled an SR-71 Blackbird flying out of SAC. He showed me photos and everything. That was pretty cool! I think his son retired a full bird (colonel).
