Dabs son livre «The Grand Design»(1), Stephen Hawking décrit les principales caractéristiques d'un modèle scientifique:

A model is a good model if it:

1. Is elegant

2. Contains few arbitrary or ajustable elements

3. Agrees with and explains all existing observations

4. Makes detailed predictions about future observations that can disprove or falsify the model if they are nor borne out.

Le modèle climatique actuel n'est pas un bon modèle. Le point 3 n'est pas du tout respecté.
