Absolutely. A buy, especially on the open market, is a significant measure of future prospects. But in today's market we see less insider buying and more acquisitions as a result of exercising stock options, which is not as meaningful. It appears that both you and I were early buyers of QCOM. I bought my first shares shortly after conversing with a relative living in San Diego, who had great respect for the backgrounds of QCOM founders.

Of all the companies I've studied, Qualcomm was the only one that (1) had a profit making product (OmniTRACS) when it went public, (2) a seasoned management team that had previously run a satellite communications firm (Linkabit), and (3) intellectual property in the form of patents that assured a growing royalty stream. Hard to beat that combination.
