CJ,
A problem is that people often use "Nazi" and/or "fascist" when they just mean authoritarian.
It's hard not to confuse the three. They share common traits, and these traits are arguably the most important.

I prefer using the term "fascism" instead of "Nazism" which is a form of fascism or "authoritarianism" which is more generic.

Vlad Vexler came up with seven traits of fascism:
  1. Revolutionary conservatism
  2. Politics of enemies
  3. Action as an end in itself
  4. State is a semi-spiritual organization
  5. Cult of leader
  6. Importance of the inexpressible
  7. Permanent emergency
His video is worth watching in its entirety, if you want a starting point for defining fascism, but you don't want to read one of the hundreds of books out there on the topic.
