“‘Meat is running out’ — Girkin on the failure of the Kremlin’s strategy. The disgraced FSB officer predicted a revolution in Russia
Former FSB officer, a key participant in the annexation of Crimea and the seizure of Donbas, now imprisoned and an ultra-right critic of the Kremlin, Igor Girkin (Strelkov) has released a new letter from the colony. In it he calls the war a “meat grinder,” the generals “cretins,” and the authorities “a gathering of old hedonists.”
“Over two years we’ve lost personnel, mobilized recruits and volunteers — and we are farther from victory than at the start of the invasion,” he writes.
“It turned out that: a) the money is running out; b) the meat is running out too; c) the enemy has learned how to fight it.”
He admits: in that time Ukraine has become stronger, while Russia has only grown weaker.
“You can’t break the enemy by taking a few hundred more ruined houses,” Girkin asserts.
At the same time he points out that Putin’s ruling circle is incapable of reform or sacrifice — “because it’s the country that must sacrifice, not them.”
Forecast: revolution is inevitable.
“Better from the top. But hope is small: we don’t just have a club of old men, we have a gathering of old hedonists. They will keep turning the meat grinder until resources run out. Then — mobilization. Then — collapse.”
