One would have to expect that if an an agreement of sorts is "negotiated" between Putin and the Trump, those conditions have already been accepted prior to the big meeting. The details would have been discussed and approved, long before the two Presidents meet. A friendly hand shake in front of the world's media, some, or a lot of self congratulatory speeches by Trump and a long monologue by Putin would fit the expected scenario.

But as with the Hamas'Israeli peace deal, there is something missing. Ukraine isn't at the table, and neither are the Europeans. Can Trump dictate terms for Ukraine and the Europeans?

What are the chances this will be another exercise in futility?
