Well, Arab countries could assimilate Palestinians, but that would mean a flourishing happy peaceful Jewish state, so it's not gonna happen.

I hear there is a movement afoot on the Woke West Coast of Canada to welcome Palestinians.

The tribal people of Haida Gwaii are so awesome, so cool and so very very woke...

Welcome to Gaza Gwaii – Your New Home

Dear Friends,

From the shores of Haida Gwaii, on the edge of Canada’s Pacific coast, we welcome you with open arms and open hearts. You have endured loss, hardship, and unimaginable challenges in Gaza. Now, in this place of forests, ocean, and endless sky, we hope you will find peace, safety, and a future filled with hope.

Haida Gwaii is a land of beauty and deep history. It is home to the Haida Nation, whose people have thrived here for thousands of years, and whose culture is rich in resilience, respect for the land, and the value of community. It is also home to a diverse group of Canadians—fishermen, artists, teachers, builders, farmers, and dreamers—who are eager to welcome you as friends and neighbours.

We call this vision Gaza Gwaii—a place where your traditions, skills, and spirit can blend with the strength of this land and its people. Here, you will find more than just a new place to live; you will find a community ready to help you rebuild your lives.

There are good people here—people who care deeply, who have come together to offer their time, their resources, and their knowledge. Many are prepared to help you find housing, learn English or French, access education, and find meaningful work. They will stand beside you as you adapt to Canadian life, while encouraging you to keep your language, your stories, and your heritage alive.

Canada is a country built by newcomers from every corner of the world. You now join that story. As you begin this next chapter, know that you are not alone. You are part of a family that will grow with each shared meal, each smile, each helping hand.

May Gaza Gwaii be a place of healing, opportunity, and belonging for you and for generations to come. Welcome home.

With respect and friendship,

On behalf of the forest people of Haida Gwaii

Welcome to Gaza Gwaii

From the waves of the Pacific,
to the forests that breathe peace,
we welcome you.

You have walked through storms,
and now you have reached the shore.

Here, on this island of cedar and salmon,
artists and elders,
farmers and fishers,
friends and neighbours
are ready to stand beside you.

This is Gaza Gwaii
your new home,
where your roots will grow deep,
and your dreams will rise like the tide.

Welcome home.

Ceremonial Welcome for Gaza Gwaii
(To be delivered outdoors—on the dock, the beach, or at a community hall)

Opening – Haida Welcome
(A respected Haida elder or representative speaks first)

“Welcome to Haida Gwaii. These islands have been our home for thousands of years. Today, we open our hearts to you, our new family from Gaza. You have traveled far, and you are safe now. This is your home too. May the ocean protect you, the forest feed you, and the people care for you. Yah’guudang—respect for all living things—will guide us as we walk this path together.”

Community Greeting – Local Canadians

“We, the people of Haida Gwaii, stand together to say: Ahlan wa sahlan—you are most welcome. You bring your language, your music, your stories, your courage. These are gifts we will treasure. From this day, you are part of us, and we are part of you.”

Symbolic Gesture
  • Elders present a woven cedar bark headband or small carved token to each newcomer, representing welcome and belonging.

  • Palestinian families offer a symbolic gift—perhaps bread and salt—to represent hospitality and friendship.
Blessing in Arabic and English
(Spoken by a Palestinian community leader or translator)

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
May this land be for you a place of peace (dar as-salaam).
May your children grow strong here,
may your dreams take root,
and may kindness guide our steps together.”

Closing Song & Celebration
  • A traditional Haida welcome song, followed by a dabke circle dance with drums to blend cultures.
  • Food sharing: smoked salmon alongside falafel, hummus, and tabbouleh—symbolizing unity.

My father says almost the whole world's asleep.
Everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to.
He says only a few people are awake.
And they live in a state of constant, total amazement.
