Is there an excellent Mac discussion area somewhere to chat about which models meet which needs? Yep, right here ;). What would you like to know? There's basically three choices right now: Low-end: 6500 Middle: G3 High-end: 8600/9600 Thing is, the G3s are as fast or faster than the high end, and with upcoming price cuts are very competitive price-wise with the low end. So there's not much reason right now to get anything other than a G3, unless you have an unusual requirement, like needing lots of free PCI slots (would you use the Mac for video editing? If not, you probably don't). rhet0ric (whose real name is not Matt, despite popular belief)
