If you follow on from the Autotalks deal closing last June, one would likely come to licensing deals for the combined pool of C2V IP being initiated and into heavy discussions around now.

I see this feeding into what's now happening as to anti-trust in China being just as much (and maybe even more than) that of Trump's trade spat with the middle earth. At least this take is something under the direction and control of affected parties whereas the other seems just irrational gibberish meant to distract from real issues rather than move towards yet another maladroit deal. fwiw

Auto is a most interesting case here. We're into the meat of their Digital Cockpit efforts where normal five year model rotation plans are going full steam and likely peaking as to being incorporated into new model planning. It's the good time and the time where the future (post 3 years) is most unclear.

With Qualcomm, you never have stability across all platforms. Some are coming, some are going and most are in a constant state of an unclear steady eddie future.

QHT: The 75% figure for Samsung you quote comes as Qualcomm's penetration into the S25 series surely peaks. Kicking backs from such dominance is rarely measured in a highly -ve manner. Reality is sure to fall somewhere between the extremes being pummeled about today. The Fold is the only hold I see at Samsung over the coming years and with 3G now being terminated, Q's usage over other modems in North American markets has become much less relevant.

It is never just one factor determining future actions. With the impact of mixing factors hardest to determine it is that which is always most relevant.

Never a quiet moment of enjoyability with Qualcomm and that's far from just their innovative ways.
