Sounds like a plan. I think I did hold ECAT a while back and I think it was recommended by the SC.

I make it rule not to hold a CEF with a yield above 12% or 13%. This is under the theory that it is really hard for a CEF to consistently generating enough income to cover the distribution.

Similarly mostly avoid buying a CEF selling at a premium. Sometimes I do because some CEFs seem to always be at a premium. I definitely cut bait when the premium gets above 7% or 8%.

LIke you, I am more focused on cash flow in total. When I sell something with a high yield, I do try and replace the cash flow jiggling some of my other investments with lower yield.
